A Picture Blog Tour of Claudia and Jamie's Metropolitan Museum of Art, as Portrayed in "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs Basil E Frankweiler"

Ahead of my vacation to New York City, even though I am no longer a Young Adult and therefore not in the typical target age group of readers for books like "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs Basil E Frankweiler," I couldn't help but re-read the Newbery Award classic tome-as-love letter to the NYC art museum.

Having had the book fresh in my mind, during my visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I thought it would be fun to take photos from the perspective of main characters Claudia and Jamie Kincaid's adventure there.

Here is my Picture Blog of photos from the Metropolitan Museum of Art taken in homage to the young adult novel by E L Konigsburg, "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs Basil E Frankweiler."

It does feel very different in there, temperature-wise.

Are any of these the Angel?
No. These are older than that one.
But it has the same feeling,
with all that beautiful marble sculpture around.

I hope you enjoyed this pictorial tour of Jamie and Claudia Kincaid's Metropolitan Museum of Art! It was really fun to scavenge out the references from the beloved book.

I have to tell you, that when I got my ticket from the guy at the admissions counter, I told him I'd just re-read Mrs Basil E Frankweiler and planned to take a pictorial tour of the museum to go with the book. He cluck his teeth and sighed, then said, reverently, "Oh my god, I love that book. It's why I took this job!" And proceeded to give me on tips where I might find beds, fountains and statues. And people say NewYorkers aren't friendly!

Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art when you're in New York City, and re-read Mrs Basil E Frankweiler before you do. It's a real treat!
